How to Star a Contact in Google

Many times we run into situations where two people in the district have the same/similar name.  It can cause situations where you end up emailing the wrong person. This can especially be an issue if you’re trying to email a teacher but accidentally email a student with the same name!

One way to help with this is to “Star” your contact. This will help them come up first when you type their name into the “to” field in an email!

To star a contact you use often:

  1. Go to contacts.google.com (Or you can also access contacts via the waffle button on your Gmail screen)

  2. In the search bar, type the name of the person you are looking for and click on their name to open their information.

  3. At the top right, next to the edit button is a star.  Click that to turn it yellow.

  1. Now, when you type into the to: field of an email, when you type their name, that contact should come up first!
